“ YESSS, I was excited to find out that another Japanese market besides Mitsuwa Marketplace sell natto fermented beans. All the other Asian markets (Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese) do not sell natto sadly. The Tozai Foods Market is tucked in a neighborhood, and relatively close to Costco and Walmart area. The layout of this store is pretty small (about the size of a liquor store). It's a family owned business as most of the staff are of Japanese descent. They legit had a variety of Japanese foods that I was looking for. They have a couple of foods in fridge like my favorite nattos (multiple brands), alcohol, vegetables, meats, fish, Japanese fermented sides / dishes, and etc. They also offer a variety of Japanese snacks, food, drinks, desserts, bread, and even warm to-go bento boxes ( sushi, onigiri, teriyaki, sashimi). As for the pricing, it's decent but do not expect crazy deals compare to bigger chain stores. For example, Mitsuwa would have deals on natto that was probably $2-3 cheaper. However compared to the cost of driving to Mitsuwa vs Tozai, Tozai definitely closer to me than Mitsuwa. Overall, definitely recommended since it's a local mom n pop market and I would love to see more Japanese markets in the area. ”

From the outside, it looked closed, but there was an "Open" sign on the door. Inside, I found a table filled with ready-to-eat items like bento boxes, sushi, and onigiri. I can't comment much on the pricing since I'm not too sensitive to it, but they also carry basic groceries like instant noodles and Japanese sweet rice wine. It's the perfect spot to pick up a few items if you're missing something for dinner. They accept credit cards for purchases over $5. “ The place was very clean and organized. The only reason I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5 is because there were take out dishes with fish that were on top of a table and they were not refrigerated. I will definitely be going back to this place to purchase my favorite Japanese frozen waffle sandwich with chocolate within or on top of the vanilla ice cream. My children like the waffle with the matcha ice cream. They also like the different flavored mochi with ice cream.. I was happy to see that they also had daifukumochi with the red bean filling. I will also be coming back here to purchase their Japanese beverages. ”

“ Tozai is a hidden gem! So glad my wife and I found this place! The laundry matt in the plaza is dog items friendly and that is what brought us to this plaza. Tozai reminded me of a small market in Hawaii or Japan. When you walk in there is an assortment of packaged meals to grab and go. Has all the quick fix dishes like curry and spam misubi. They also have a decent variety of sushi and sashimi to grab and go. Everything was fresh and delicious. You can also preorder party platters of sashimi and rolls. Along with the grab and go food items, Tozai also has a range of Japanese groceries and other specialty items. We will definitely be back! ”

“ Shopping small Saturday! This Japanese store had Asian groceries although a small variety but still enough to pick from). I came looking for a quick snack and at the entrance spotted the table filled with Japanese dishes-- sashimi, onigiris, sushi, gyoza, oyakodon (chicken and egg bowls), gyudon (beef and onions) & spam musubi. $10 or less can get you anything to snack on. I got a salmon onigiri ($2.75) and furikake spam musubi ($4). The onigiri was already pre-made so the seaweed had softened, inside it's filled with real chunks of salmon and tasted very fresh! Although a bit dry the quality is good. I was drawn to the spam musubi, freshly made and still warm!!! I scarfed it down quickly, soft rice, savory furikake flakes and just enough sweet soy sauce. I enjoyed both and would get a bowl on my next visit. ”

“ This hidden Japanese gem offers some of the best quality, ready-to-eat Japanese food for the price in the area. It's an upgrade to their original location not far from here. The layout inside almost mirrors the original as well, with the kitchen in the back right corner of the store and cashier's next to it, and the fridges to the back left of the store. There's a varied selection of bento boxes, musubi, onigiri, sushi, sashimi, rolls and freshly made Japanese street snacks. The poke is also some of the cheapest around, and from my memory tastes pretty darn good for what's offered! You can also place orders for sushi and sashimi, though be mindful of the lead time as they're short-staffed and may not be as quick to fulfill orders as before. Groceries are a smaller selection of what you'd find in a larger Japanese market. They do stock the essential fresh produce, crackers, sauces, ramen, udon, soup and other household Japanese staples. Service has never been an issue. Even during the lunch rush, there's always 2 friendly cashiers up front helping out. Cash and credit are accepted, but be aware of a $5 minimum to use card. For grab and go lunch or dinner, or a quick and delicious snack, you can't go wrong with coming here for a visit! ”
